Beautiful picture! I lived there in the 60's and 70's. This is a link to a few pictures of Matawe tideland "back in the day". It really was a slice of paradise!

My parents were missionaries and they worked with the Dumaget people that lived at Matawe and surrounding areas. The young children in the pictures I linked were my sister and I dressed in the Dumaget style of clothing.

The aerial photo of Matawe point is where we lived. My father built a house there and we lived there from 1964 to 1977. I was not always there...usually only in the summertime or vacation time. I went to boarding schools in Mindanao and Manila.

I have to go back there sometime.....though I'm sure nothing will look the same. Your pictures are wonderful.....my pictures (actually taken by my parents....most of them) are from old slides that I've scanned and tried a bit of post processing on...I have many more of Matawe.

thank you very much ian! i envy you for having seen it back when it was really pristine. well, not much has probably changed...matawe a baranggay in dingalan, which is town in the province of aurora (in your time it might still be part of quezon province). it is a poor, rural place....but the beauty remains....

here are photos of dingalan from my two trips there last year. many are images from matawe, it's tidal flats, and its immediate environs...
