Wow. I normally attempt to put meaningful comments, but I am just rendered speechless.

This is better than any of my work!

How did you get the focal depth so large? Everything is so in focus.

What lense is this? if I may ask. Was this just a tiny aperture setting? Is F/8.0 just an aperture setting of F8?

The clarity is amazing.

very nice. which IR filter are you using? I've been debating getting a filter for some doing IRs with my 40D - I have a converted S5 IS that I use now. It's fun but sometimes doesn't get the clarity I would like. I like the movement of the clouds and water creating a very soft look. Great job.

thank you!

for this, i used my Canon 30D and EF-S 10-22 with a Hoya R72 infrared filter. The focus point selected approximated the hyperfocal point of the aperture and focal length combination.

yes, for infrared work, an aperture setting of f8 seems to be the best compromise.

Thank you!

Used a Hoya R72 infrared filter. Since the 30D's low pass filter is kinda thick, IR exposures tend to take too long....minutes even in strong sunlight at f/8 iso 200. This effectively makes the IR filter act like an neutral density filter, approximately cutting light by about 15-20 stops! And that's why the exposure renders the streaking clouds and soft sea with the requisite drama. :)
