The Duo by jaydigital The Duo by jaydigital
Two local pine trees, isolated at the end of a desolate beach in Zambales, Philippines. An infrared long-exposure was used here, hence the unique colors.

Amazing picture! I have the same filter and have gotten some nice results, but haven't seen this technique for post processing IR photos before. What did you mean with the "invert-color layer workflow"?
Do you swap the Red-Blue color channels? I just love the yellow trees... Looks so good.
When I shoot, my Nikon D40 won't let me choose a manual white balance in the range I need, so I just make sure to shoot in raw and adjust the white balance in post...
Such a great picture! Props man!

phenomenal shot! love that you are able to tame that r-72 with a canon 30d! canon really filters the IR spectrum hard! Have you had your 30d tricked out to shoot the IR spectrum

I love it :D The motion on the trees is great and the composition is excellent.

I recently got an IR filter, how do you get it so it's this sort of colour? I've seen it on some other pictures before.

@james-dolan:

thanks!

it is critical that you get the white balance with the filter correctly. afterwards in post-processing i just used the invert-color layer workflow :)

Actually, this is a nice IR shot. But little blurry because of wind.

yeah haha. it was a very long exposure on a bright and breezy noon. i never expected the trees not to move, in fact, i really wanted it to move and look surreal. i think it really compliments the unique IR colors.

i could have shot this normally at a much faster shutter speed and keep everything pin sharp. but that would be mundane :)

but thank you for taking the time to comment!

Awesome - I like the combination of the totally static lake and the movement of the trees.
