Artist's Comments

The rough coastal waters of Basco, Batanes rendered in swirly mist through a very long exposure.

Stunning shot mate, gotta love the 30 second exposure of this and those colors are awesome!
Really nice light and colour and lots of intrest in the composition... I would comment that you could have used ISO 100 and a slightly longer exposure? Iso 100 would always have less noise if you felt like making a big big print.

The exposure was timed perfectly! I like it!

Don't feed the stupid people... And trust me, they're all stupid people.
The clouds are completely wrong....You have the water and perspective of the leading lines moving north and the the clouds having slight east movement....The foreground is awesome.....don't get me wrong. But you need to go back on a day with better wind.

thanks!

wrong? how could nature be wrong :D though you hinted on being lucky with all the elements being perfectly in sync with our "design ideals," it is completely unreasonable to expect it in every shot.

i think it is a minor quibble that doesn't really take anything away from the beauty of the scene.
thank you!

while what you suggest is rational, i don't always have the luxury of time when i am on a shoot. using a longer exposure would have meant reaching for my cable release and perhaps missing the moment where the suns breaks free from the bank of clouds and thus having a dull image. time is always against anyone shooting in the tropics as the suns rises and sets very quickly. splendid light is fleeting.

additionaly, i really don't find any difference in print quality using iso 100 to iso 400, even in prints up to 10x15. any gain in grain is minimal and tolerable. i think my decision to shoot at iso 200 was a good compromise.

thanks for the comments!
